GCN Circular 9807

Subject
GRB 090814B: Swift/UVOT Upper Limits
Date
2009-08-14T17:39:59Z (15 years ago)
From
Peter Curran at MSSL <pac@mssl.ucl.ac.uk>
P.A. Curran (MSSL-UCL) and W.H. Baumgartner (GSFC/UMBC) report on behalf
of the Swift/UVOT team:

Swift/UVOT observed the field of the INTEGRAL GRB 090814B (Beckmann et
al. GCN. Circ. 9795), gathering 950s of data in the from interval T0+9ks
to T0+14 ks.

No optical afterglow consistent with the Swift XRT position (Evans et
al., GCN 9803) is detected in the UVOT exposures. Preliminary 3-sigma
upper limits, using the UVOT photometric system (Poole et al. 2008,
MNRAS, 383, 627), are:

Filter T_start(s) T_stop(s) Exp(s) Mag
u 8044 14166 506 >20.32
w2 8485 8933 441 >20.30

The values quoted above are not corrected for the Galactic extinction
due to the reddening of E(B-V) = 1.10 in the direction of the burst
(Schlegel et al. 1998).
